For a Muslim woman, sometimes honesty and openness are a luxury. A lot of us cannot express our dissent or discomfort towards how certain aspect of our religion is practised or interpreted simply because we have been programmed to give precedence to the wholeness of our community over our individual needs and wants. Thus, having a platform to speak out, unapologetically share our experiences as Muslim women and show supports for one another like what we have in Penawar is something that I deem so precious and heartening. I am grateful for Penawar for it helps me to heal; allowing me to better cope with myself and relate to others spiritually, emotionally and intellectually.
