Penawar has joined the list of signatories of Muslim women's organisations to condemn the public caning of the two women in Malaysia and to stand in solidarity with them and other LGBT people facing violence and oppression in Malaysia and elsewhere.⠀

We hope this international support for victims of violence based on gender and sexuality will pressure the Malaysian government to provide the necessary protection for the most marginalized within their society.⠀
